Subject: Searching for Relatives
Hello,
My father Julius Thumim-Riedler was born in Vienna, Austria in 1914. His father's name was Max Thumim and his
mother's was Rosa Riedler. The family moved to Lvov when his mother died and my grandfather re-married. His
new wife was Malka Kauf.
They emigrated to Argentina in 1924 and he remembered his grandfather and one of his father's sisters remained
in Lvov. I would like to know if there are any Thumims in Lvov. I have the feeling the family was originally
from there.
Thank you!
Graciela Grinbank (nee Thumim)

Subject: Tracing my father's roots
Hi,
My father, John Psuj, came to the UK as a displaced person after the war in about 1946/1947. He was from Lvov
and was born on 1st March 1916. I think his mother was called Maria and he had a twin sister and brother named
Stefan and Stefanie, I believe. I think his father was a coach maker. I don't know anything about my father's
family apart from these details. I would love to be able to trace my roots and one day travel to that part of
the world.
Can anyone advise me how to go about finding more information? Unfortunately I don't speak Polish.
Thank you,
Jeanette James

Subject: Weitzners of Lemberg/Lvov
Looking for information about my grandfather Rubin Weitzner and his brother Charles. We originally heard that
they came to America in 1892 when Rubin was 8 yrs and Charles was 14 yrs. We have since heard that this
information was not exactly right. They might have been a little older and they might not have traveled
together. We think that they came before computerized Ellis Island records (pre 1892). They both settled in
the NY/NJ area. Charles married Yetta Upin and my grandfather married Pauli Schein/Pauline Schoen. We always
believed her name was Pauline Schoen but have found information that her name might have been Pauli Schein.
Her family is believed to have come from Lvov also but don't know if she was born in Lvov or America. I have
recently been contacted by a granddaughter of Charles that I never met (maybe when we were very young) so I've
been able to fill in some small gaps but don't know the names of our family members that might have remained
in Lvov. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello!
My name is Nina (Antonina Yekimova). I was born and grew up in Lvov. I have visited my home town twice since I
left it in 1992, but didn't have any time to find my school friends. I do wonder how are they. I went to
school #17 Chernyahovskogo. Maybe we weren't close friends (very possible...) but you may know something about
guys and girls from my class. I am 37 now. Or maybe we went together to Pedagogichskoye Uchilishe? Do you know
anything about Ulyana Golovatskaya? Ira Shishkina? Natasha Zemlyanaya?
Will be happy to hear from you.

Hi,
My name is now John Taras but I was born Evan Lucak in 1957. I believe my Father Wasyl Lucak was born around
1924 in Lvov. He had a brother Iwan who I was named after and two sisters, Anna and I think Nasturnia. My
Grandfather's name I think was Mykyta Lucak. I have a letter to my father from my Uncle Iwan dated January
1965. At this time he was working in Solotwyne. My father Wasyl died on November 5th 1990 in Preston
Lancashire. I would dearly like to make contact with my cousins wherever they are. I know from the letter that
my Uncle and both Aunts had children.
Any help you can give me would be great.
Kind regards,
Evan

Subject: Hello Lemberg
Like many of you my family came from Lemberg (Lvov). My grandmother Sophia Martini was born in 1894 somewhere
in or near Lvov to Leo Martini and Roselia Lozinska. He was a tailor, born in 1862 to parents Joseph and
Sophia Martini. Leo and Rose lived in Stryji, just south of Lvov. He died in 1897.
Rose was born in the same area in 1871 to parents Nicholi Lozinska and Yula Korchinska. They died when she was
a child. Rose had three brothers, Bisho, Yashow and Useow. One hung himself and another died in war. Rose left
the area between 1901 and 1903. Daughter Sophia was left in a convent in Lvov until Rose returned in 1909 to
bring her to the United States.
In 1975 my mother and I visited Lvov and Stryji. We visited an address on Karakrina Street where we believe
they lived. Other than that I know little. Do any of these names or places ring a bell with anyone?

Hello, I just found this site and was thrilled. My Grandfather was born in Mosty Wielkie in 1892 and came to
the US in 1907. His last name was Sliwinski, and he said his mother's maiden name was Bandill. He had an older
brother Peter, and older sisters who married men with the surnames of Scheremeta and Kmyta. I do not know if
there is any family still there.
I would love to find out more about the town—they lived on a farm, and his father was sort of the town
official.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
